My ceramic work is defined directly by my love for shapes and textures. I draw my inspirations from images of my childhood in Provence: uneven rustic environments, old stones and rugged landscapes, combined with an interest in Asian aesthetics, particularly Japanese. I focus on pieces for every day use that are both utilitarian and make me smile. I love to think about the dynamic between the glazes and the shape of an object, and am drawn to the unknown aspects of the glazing process, taking risks with glaze combinations I am not familiar with. My attraction to texture lends itself to hand-built work, but I also integrate wheel throwing pieces that are later altered in order to create a more organic feel to the pot.
