I am an abstract painter and have been working at it for my whole life. It is a never ending challenge.

For me, part of what a contemporary artist does is work not only within the parameters of current thought and styles, but also to stretch it. I am making that a central factor in my current work. Coherent style is less important. DIrection, adventure, new thoughts, ideas, and anything that is dismissed and perhaps often rejected, becomes the very basis my daily thought sits on.

Where does that put both painter and observer? It makes the work hopefully teeter like climbing a mountain or skiing down a slope that is too difficult. It is a breathtaking trip ending in perhaps a more exciting experience.
