Fun, fabric and function have been the core of my artistic journey since I was a child.
Having been raised in Mexico, I was surrounded by color, whimsy and life!
Travels and an MA in textiles led me to an exciting teaching career at Fort Mason Art Center in San Francisco; art exhibitions, awards and many trade shows such as American Craft Council and Rosen established my Bonika's Butlers and Benches as a well known whimsical and functional art form.
Over the past twenty years, I have had amazing opportunities to travel with my husband to South America, Asia, Africa, Nepal, Bhutan, Papua New Guinea, Bali, Australia and New Zealand. Ten years ago we bought a second home in New Zealand, which opened a new world of felting when I joined the local Felters' Guild. Making cloth with silk, wool and recyclables has become a passion and a very creative and exciting process. Nuno felted scarves, vessels and birds are my latest venture - much smaller and lighter than my previous work.
